Article 1: Description of the Contest
Level Up 2025 is a contest for amateur music videos created using music and video clips from anime (Japanese animated cartoons). This contest is free and non-profit.
Article 2: Submission Deadline
The submission deadline for the videos is set for March 30, 2025, at 23:59 (GMT+1, Paris). The AMVs must be submitted in their entirety before this date.
Article 3: Contest Organizer
The contest is organized by the association AMV France (www.amv-france.com) for Japan Expo.
Article 4: Registration Conditions
4.1 The contest is free and open to everyone, except for jury members (preselection and final judgment).
4.2 The edited videos must be exclusive to the contest, not have participated in a previous contest, not have been shown at a previous convention, and not have been published online before the results are announced on the AMV France website.
4.3 Only one solo entry per person is allowed.
4.4 The videos used must have a direct and obvious link with animation. Videos from video games are also accepted. It is allowed to mix these images with non-animation sources (drawings, 3D, etc.). Any clips that spark debate will be subject to validation to determine if the video is considered an AMV or not.
4.5 Participation in this contest implies full acceptance of these rules.
Article 5: Registration Procedure
Each participant must fill out the interactive registration form available only on the contest registration page.
Article 6: Technical Considerations for the Videos
6.1 The videos must comply with the following formats:
- Containers: MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI
- Video codecs: H264, H265, XviD, DivX (5, 6, and 7), MPEG, MPEG2, WMV9
- Audio codecs: MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC, Vorbis
- Framerate: Up to 60 frames per second
6.2 The video duration must be at least 1 minute and 30 seconds.
6.3 The file size (in megabytes) must not exceed 500 MB or a maximum bitrate of 30mb/s unless an exceptional and justified request is made (contact the organizers for authorization).
Article 7: Video Submission
The videos must be submitted via FTP (address provided upon registration). If you encounter any issues during the upload process, a
tutorial is available.
Article 8: Warranties
8.1 Each participant submitting their work for this contest guarantees that they are the exclusive and sole author and that they do not directly and/or indirectly infringe on any third-party rights.
8.2 Every contest participant agrees that their work may be:
- Publicly displayed
- Featured on the AMV France websites
- Used during various events attended by AMV France
Article 9: Jury Composition
The jury will be composed of 3 volunteers.
Article 10: Judging Criteria
The submitted works will be rated and ranked based on criteria such as editing quality, encoding, originality, aesthetics, and coherence.
Article 11: Announcement of Results
The results will be announced on the AMV France website.
Article 12: Reasons for Disqualification
12.1 The disqualification of a participant is at the sole discretion of the contest organizers and cannot be contested.
12.2 Any use of works with pornographic, racist, defamatory content, or content likely to harm physical or moral integrity will result in immediate disqualification.
12.3 Non-compliance with one or more articles of these rules will also be considered grounds for disqualification.
Article 13: Contest Modification or Cancellation
AMV France reserves the right to modify, extend, or cancel this contest without prior notice. This decision, at the sole discretion of AMV France, does not imply any liability.
Article 14: Participants Rights
In accordance with the French Data Protection Act No. 78-17 of January 6, 1978, you have the right to access, modify, or delete your personal data. To exercise this right, please contact the AMV France association staff.
Article 15: Interpretation of the Rules
Any difficulty in interpreting these rules will be resolved by the AMV France association.
