Article 1 : Contest description
Japan Expo International AMV Contest 2023 is an amateur music video contest.
The music videos must have been created from music and anime (Japanese cartoons) sources. This contest is free and for non commercial-use.
Article 2 : Deadline
The contest ends on July 04th, 2023 at 11:59pm UTC+2 (local summer time). The videos must have been uploaded by this date.
Article 3 : Contest organizers
This contest is organized by AMV FRANCE, the French Anime Music Videos Association (www.amv-france.com), for the Japan Expo convention.
Article 4 : Submissions terms
4.1 This contest is free and opened to all, except for jury members.
4.2 The videos must be exclusive to the contest (it cannot be entered in any contest before Japan Expo) and cannot be shown in another convention or on the Internet before AMV France association gives the contest results. Only videos never displayed online heretofore may enter. Video must be premiered at the contest and cannot participate in any other online or offline AMV contest until the end of Japan Expo 2023.
4.3 One solo entry and one MEP per person will be retained. It is therefore possible for you to make a solo AND a MEP/COLLAB.
4.4 The videos used must have a direct and obvious relationship with non-original animation (We are talking here about animation not created entirely by the AMV maker such as original animation or creations entirely in CGI). Videos taken from video games will not be accepted. It is possible to mix these images with "real" sources if that the non-origial animated images represent at least 60% of the AMV.
4.5 Commercial or promotional videos will not be accepted (due to public broadcasting)
4.6 In order to participate to this contest you must totally agree with the following rules.
Article 5 : Submission process
Each participant (person or group) must fill the electronic inscription sheet available here.
Article 6 : Technical requirements
6.1 The following formats are accepted :
- Containers : AVI, MP4, MKV, MPEG, MPEG2, WMV
- Video Codecs : H264, H265, XviD, DivX (5, 6 et 7), MPEG, MPEG2, WMV9
- Audio Codecs : MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC, Vorbis
- Framerate : Up to 60 frames per seconds
6.2 Video’s duration cannot be less than 1min30 and not more than 5min.
6.3 The video size must NOT exceed 300 MB in weight or a maximal bitrate of 20mb/s unless it has a good reason to. Contact the organisers to get an authorisation.
6.4 You must show clearly the title of the contest: Japan Expo 2023. On this purpose, we provide you with a logo:
it is mandatory to use it. You have the right to modify it the way you want (colors, 3D effect, pattern overlay...) in order to implement it to your AMV. However, it must remain

Article 7 : How to send your video
Your video must be uploaded our FTP (access will be sent by email).

Article 8 : Guarantees
8.1 Each participant (person or group) must guarantee his/her exclusive ownership of the video he/she submits. This guarantee must extend to the direct or indirect violation of any of the exclusive rights of a copyright owner.
8.2 Each participant accepts that his/her video:
- can be publicly displayed
- present on the sites of AMV France, Japan Expo and on the Youtube channel of AMV France within a maximum period of 2 weeks after the publication of the results (no exception)
- be used during several conventions in which AMV France will take part.
8.3 Any participant over 18 accepts to be photographed during the convention and is aware that said images can be used in any non-commercial communication from AMV France and Japan Expo.
Article 9 : Jury
Three members from AMV France and two guests, professional editors or renowned AMV makers, will constitute the jury.
Though, notice that this point can be changed if needed.
Article 10 : Ranking criteria
The jury will rank the videos, basing their judgment on editing quality, conversion, originality, aestheticism, and coherence.
Article 11 : Results
About thirty of the best videos will be ranked. The results will be announced during the 22th edition of Japan Expo. As always, various prizes can be won.
Article 12 : disqualification
12.1 The organizing committee reserves the right to disqualify any submission without having to justify, in any way, its decision.
12.2 You are prohibited from posting any unlawful, libelous, defamatory, inflammatory, threatening, pornographic, profane, scandalous, or other material that may give rise to civil or criminal liability or otherwise violate any applicable law.
12.3 By submitting a video to this contest, you agree on the Terms and Conditions sated on this page.
Article 13 : Modifications or Contest Cancellation
AMV France may at any time revise these Terms and Conditions by updating this posting. Your submission to this Contest is contingent upon your agreement to be bound by any such revisions and you should therefore periodically visit this page to review the current Terms and Conditions. AMV France can, within its rights and at any moment, cancel the Contest.
Article 14 : Data Policy
According to French law 78-10 from January 6th 1978, you have the right to access, modify or delete any data referring to you. We do not transfer any kind of data concerning contestants out of AMV France Association. If you have any question regarding our data policy, please feel free to contact AMV France Staff.
Article 15 : Rules interpretation
Any misinterpretation of the rules will be resolved by the Contest officials. Such decision is final. Protests regarding the judgment of the Contest will not be accepted.
