Japan Expo 2025

Ready to catch victory? Join the AMV Japan Expo 2025 contest and prove that you are the undisputed master of AMVs! With its strong annual presence at the convention, the AMV-France association is determined to make this event THE memorable moment of 2025. For that, we are expecting more clips, big names from the scene, and ever more motivated newcomers!

◄ Shortened Rules:
- Your AMV must be submitted before June 15, 2025, 11:59 PM (GMT +2 Paris).
- The contest is based on exclusivity: your AMV cannot be published online, either via streaming or download, before its screening at the convention (July 6, 2025).
- The winner will receive a UNIQUE trophy. The second and third place winners, as well as the audience choice winner, will receive different prizes. (Prizes are cumulative.) We estimate the total value to be over 600 euros!
- Due to public screening at the convention, the use of pornographic scenes or extreme violence may result in immediate disqualification, at the jury’s discretion. Plagiarism of other AMVs is also a reason for disqualification.
- Only one solo and one MEP per person will be accepted. This means you can submit both a solo and a MEP/COLLAB.
- The videos used must have a direct and obvious connection to animation. Video game footage is also accepted. Mixing these images with non-animation sources (drawings, 3D, etc.) is allowed. Any disputed clips will be reviewed to determine if they qualify as an AMV.
- Your clip must not contain footage that has been exclusively released in cinemas.

◄ Registration:
Registration is only possible through this form until June 15, 2025.
By registering, you accept that your video will be available on the association’s website and broadcast on its YouTube channel.

◄ Technical Rules:
- This year, as in the previous year, you are required to use the Japan Expo 2025 logo that we provide.
PNG:
Black background logo
White background logo

You are allowed to modify it in any way (color, 3D relief, pattern overlay...) to best fit your AMV. However, it must remain visible for approximately 3 seconds.

- The video must be at least 1 minute and 30 seconds long. If it exceeds 5 minutes, the staff may request a shortened version for screening purposes. If refused, the staff reserves the right to adjust the length of your video for screening. However, your video will be judged in its entirety, not based on a shortened version.
- The video must not exceed 500MB or a maximum bitrate of 30mb/s unless justified (contact the organizers for permission).
- MEPs are allowed.
- The video must not contain subtitles or logos unrelated to its concept. Subtitles added by the AMV creator for accessibility purposes are allowed, but it is preferable to allow their deactivation (softsub).
- It must not contain distorted ratios, interlacing, or unintended black bars visible throughout the video.
- Allowed containers: AVI, MP4, MKV, MOV, MPEG, MPEG2, WMV.

◄ Prizes:
This year, we are going all out! The winner will exclusively receive a Japan Expo/AMV France trophy to mark the occasion! The second and third-place winners will receive prizes provided by our partners “Rêves de manga” and “E-cardstore,” as well as thanks to your donations! If you place in the top 3 and win the audience award, you will accumulate prizes!
The total value of this year’s prizes is estimated at over 600 euros!
If the recipient is not present on the day of the convention, prizes will be shipped by mail.

◄ AMV Submission:
Submission of clips will be done via FTP. The host, login, and password will be sent to the email address provided during registration.
A tutorial on how to use it is available here.
If you encounter any issues while submitting your AMV, contact us at: contest@amv-france.com.

◄ Contest Organization:
- The contest is organized by the AMV France association.

- AMVs will be judged in two phases:
1) The preselection phase determines three categories: non-selected, “favorites,” and finalists. If there is a question about whether a clip qualifies as an AMV, three AMV France staff members will decide on its acceptance. (The creator will be notified and will have the opportunity to argue their case.)
2) The ranking of finalists is determined by a jury of three experienced AMV makers.

- Finalists and “favorites” will be announced in batches, without distinction, about ten days before the convention starts (July 3, 2025).

- Non-selected AMVs will not be ranked or screened. The “favorites” will participate in a live tournament at the convention booth. The audience will vote using a QR code survey, advancing their favorite “favorite” towards victory.

- Finalists will be screened on a big screen on Saturday, July 5 (unranked) and Sunday, July 6, 2025 (ranked).

- An audience award will also be held at the convention for the finalists. Voting will take place on Saturday.

- Full results will be available on the AMV France website shortly after the convention (July 6, 2025).

Reminder: Videos ranked in our contests will always be available for download on the website, no later than two weeks after the results. No exceptions.
